MMSC Participates in John Henry Memorial Adoption FairOn June 28th, the Maker’s Mark Secretariat Center participated in the first annual John Henry Memorial Equine Adoption Fair at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Ky. The Adoption Day brought together local equine rescue agencies such as the Kentucky Equine Humane Center, the Standardbred Retirement Foundation, and the Indiana Horse Rescue, each of which kept horses on display throughout the day at the Horse Park’s pole barns and then showed them in an exhibition Saturday evening. Some 400 people attended the exhibition and the silent auction held to benefit the Save Our Horses campaign. Several visitors to the Adoption Fair arrived at the Horse Park early in order to visit the Secretariat Center, and as a result three of the five available horses at the facility had adoption papers filed before they could load on the trailer for the pole barns. The Secretariat Center brought three horses for showcase—the recently adopted King De, Lucky Bid, and Come On Bye, a new arrival to the Center. Come On Bye and King were meant to represent the ‘before’ and ‘after’ of a horse’s journey through the Secretariat Center, while Lucky Bid was showcased as an available horse who has had preliminary training. Both Lucky Bid and Come On Bye generated a lot of interest during the exhibition, resulting in adoption inquiries for both horses. Photo by John Klocinski Recently Viewed Horses |
